About Us

The Farragut Open disc golf tournament will celebrate it’s 23rd annual event in September 2023! Previous year’s have drawn a crowd of over 400 players, the largest known disc golf tournament in Idaho’s history. Today, it attracts Pros and Ams alike to compete on multiple amazing courses within a single park and share time with others across 4 days of disc golf-focused activities and events.

Farragut Disc Golf Complex

Welcome to the Inland Northwest's premier disc golf complex, hidden deep within North Idaho's own Farragut State Park. The Farragut Disc Golf Complex (FDGC) boasts 4 tournament courses; Wreckcreator, A.W.O.L., Northstar, and the fabled par 67 Cutthroat. A family friendly putt and approach course (Little Black Bear) is on site as well. And all of this, within short walking distance from a single parking lot.

Course Design & History

The FDGC has a deep history of design management starting with Chris Kiger and Ed Doppelmayer who originally designed Wreckcreator circa 1999. Craig Walters was the local pro and first tournament director for the Farragut Open, before Northstar was installed in 2003. Northstar was designed by Park Ranger Keith Jones and Steve Simmons. Tom Walker stepped in shortly after and for almost a decade organized and ran tournaments along with the assistance of the North Idaho Disc Golf Club (NIDGC).

Farragut was a famed stop on the Inland Northwest Series for several years and traditionally brings golfers from more than 4 states together for competition. Double Black Diamond was designed by Ranger Keith Jones along with local professionals Jeremy Thornton and Jared Person. The course went in 2009/2010 and offered up the areas first Par 60 tournament level course. A few years after the course went in, Rich McLaughlin (Moose), Nate Rogers and Jared Person founded the Farragut Disc Golf Alliance (FDGC) to help maintain the courses and provided bootlegger style weeklies and events for about 2 years. In 2013 Double Black Diamond was officially renamed to A.W.O.L. and the complex gained national recognition via touring pro's as one of the "must-plays" in the country.
